It has been about 40 years since Dorothy Leland attended University of the Pacific's Raymond College, a three-year, liberal arts and sciences cluster college in the 1960s. Leland, 61, moved to Indiana with her family and transferred to Purdue University before completing the Raymond program, but she returned to Pacific on Monday competing for admission in a different role: university president. A Fillmore native, she is the final of three presidential candidates who have participated in open forums with community members. Leland, president of Georgia College & State University, also has served as vice president at Florida Atlantic University's Boca Raton campus and university associate provost, executive director of university strategic planning and executive director at Atlantic's Women's Studies Center. She holds a doctorate in philosophy from Purdue. |
